HANDLING THE WITHDRAWAL EFFECTS OF SMOKING
Giving up smoking isn't an event. It really hurts through the period; every time you want to run back to cigarettes. Here is a simple strategy to cope up with this pervasive habit....

Investigators have set up the follwoing strategy to cope up with Smoking habit. It includes:

1. Avoidance: stay away from parties and friends with whom you know that saying NO would be difficult.

2. Escape: Since tobacco smoking comes in bursts, escaping it for just few minutes can prevent relapsa. so if u feel a sudden urge just ignore it for some time.

3. Picture a Smoke.backened collapsed lung: Associate such pictures with smoking habit, this will help you postpone the urge.

4. Substitution or Prize system: Everytime you suppress the urge for smoking prize yourself by doing anything you crave (NOT CIGARETTE) like watching movie, eating ice-cream, talking to your friends, walking etc. This would really help you to perform better next time.

5. Managing Failure: If you slip or feel a strong temptation, ask the key question, "Am I going to let one small slip wipe out that hard-won record" or "If several million smokers have succeeded in giving it up. Why can't I ?.

This simple strategy would help you through the withdrawal.

You can tell some better steps too.

Re: HANDLING THE WITHDRAWAL EFFECTS OF SMOKING

hi sky is d limit,

these advices were really nice. as until lately i too was a chain smoker; i took about 10-12 cigarettes a day; but now i have decreased the number to 3-4 a day, i am working to stop it slowly. i would like to tell that dropping this habit is not as easy as it is adviced. but the thing which really helped me in my case were:

AVOIDING TEMPTATION AND CHANGING MY FRIEND CIRCLE. by doing this i altogether changed my lifestyle, my apprach to life, my tension-busters. as a result i am at this level.

wish me luck dear friends and 2 you all too.
